Who we are

Thanks for your interest in ‘Aplus Assist’. I look forward to giving you, your family/friends, a wonderful journey with our horses as part of our very unique Aplus Assist Equine Therapy program - for all ages and abilities. We offer unique experiences with horses for the purpose of building self-confidence, learning about relationships, building self-awareness, problem-solving, improving fine & gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. We are dedicated to the horse healing experience as it has a unique way of calming the soul and addressing therapeutic goals.

Riding is included on request when the time is right for the participant and the horses. It is mainly activities on the ground with the horses.

A bit about Aplus Assist…

Aplus Assist is where horses can offer more than just riding, an experience that can heal our souls, give you a new boost of ‘true confidence’, and reduce your everyday stress. All sessions are run by a qualified allied health professional registered with the ACA. NDIS participants are welcome. This program is tailored to suit all individuals’ needs.

Horses have been companions to people for thousands of years, and so it is no surprise that nowadays they assist us in partnership with what we now call “Equine Assisted Therapy”.

Part of the experience is to allow ourselves to feel vulnerable with the horses because they are a being that has no expectations of us; they just intuitively know how to be present in the moment and grounded with true authenticity. This is something so many of us can benefit from in our everyday lives, when we are aiming to heal our past hurts, traumas, or reduce the anxiety we feel.

Horses are very sensory seeking, just like some people, especially those who are Autistic (sensory seeking), and as for those who are sensory avoidant, they too can have an experience of building their capacity to cope better with sensory feelings. Horses are mainly non-verbal in their communication, like a lot of autistic children start out. It takes all that pressure away from participants who join us in therapy. This reassurance and similar way of communication creates a stronger bond every time participants come to spend time with the horses &/or do our array of fun and creative activities.

So if you’re looking to build yours or your child’s confidence and work on reducing anxiety, improving focus and engagement, so socially things become much easier, this could be worth giving a go!
